Questions about Angels

Hello All!

Although my spiritual growth is moving forward in leaps and bounds, I still have many answered questions! I’m sure a lot of you know of my affinity to angels because I ask them for guidance on a daily basis. However, a very good friend of mine says she feels uncomfortable when I talk about angels because I should be asking for God’s help and not that of the angels. This led me to question how many other people in my life feel this way! I’ve been doing a lot of research on this subject and receiving mixed and confusing information. I again asked for guidance and this is what I found……

Why do we pray to angels? Aren’t we supposed to pray to God?

The angels don’t want us to worship them or make them into “gods.” They want all glory to go to God. So, we don’t pray to angels. We only request their help and have conversations with them.

Angels are a gift from God, and our Creator intends for us to benefit from His gift to us. So there is nothing wrong with engaging in conversations with angels.

“Why should I talk to angels when I can talk to God?”

“When people are afraid and most in need of Heavenly help, their vibrations are too low to hear and feel the pure love of God. The angels, who are closer to Earth, are easier to hear and feel when someone is fearful or stressed. Then they can lift the person’s vibrations and help him or her be unafraid and at peace and return to a clear connection with God.”

I’m sharing this because I’m sure there a lot of other people out there who are asking the same questions. This has helped me have a better understanding and one I am comfortable with.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time…….

Love, light and hugs,

Doris

Affirmations

Hello again to all my old, current and soon to be new friends!

Today I want to share affirmations with you. I practice affirmations on a daily basis and, done correctly, they really work! A good friend lent me a book by Diana Cooper and she explains them so simply and effectively. Start doing them in your daily life,  and see and experience the results you get!

The more energy and emphasis we put into our affirmations, the more deeply they enter our belief system.

The Universe literally rearranges itself to give you what you believe.

To make affirmations, speak your words with energy and intent.

Make sure your affirmations contain only positive words.

Affirmations must be in the present tense.

Effective affirmations are simple.

Affirmations need to be constantly repeated.

Remember to affirm what you want to be as if you are already there.

This is a quick route to be where you want to be.

Then act as if it has already become your reality.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

I would really love to hear about your experiences and results when you have done them!

Until next time……

Love, light and HUGE hugs,

Doris

Gratitude List

Hello friends,

A few days ago I wrote about doing a list of “100 gratitudes”. I’ve just posted my first one and will do a few more every day until I reach 100. Why don’t we all do it together? You don’t have to share them with anybody unless you want to, but do them for yourselves! Just doing my first one has made such a difference in my life and I’m looking forward to doing the rest. Let the journey begin………!

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time………

Love and hugs,

Doris

One Hundred Gratitudes – The Joy of Saying “Thank You”

Hello again to all my old, current and soon to be new friends!

I found this on a site that I visit regularly and was originally penned by Dr Robert Holden. I’m sharing it with you because it was gratitude that led me on the path and journey I am travelling right now. Feelings of gratitude was my “wow” moment!

“One Hundred Gratitudes” is a journal exercise that invites you to reflect on your life, from past to present, and to record 100 entries of pure appreciation and thanksgiving. The goal is to compile a list of 100 experiences, relationships, places, people, books, songs,  pieces of art, events, adventures and other moments that you are truly grateful for. These “One Hundred Gratitudes” add up to one big “Thank You” for the miracle of existence. It is like a thank you letter to God.

There are a number of ways to do “One Hundred Gratitudes”. Some people compile their lists chronologically and others don’t follow a timeline; they just write what comes. Some people compile the list in one sitting. Personally, I recommend that you do it over several sittings, maybe compiling 10 to 15 entries at a time. Some people do “One Hundred Gratitudes” on their own; others do it with close friends or with their partners, for instance. Sharing your “One Hundred Gratitudes” is as powerful as compiling them.

The one key instruction that I ask you to follow is that for each entry you include a “what” and a “why.”  Here is a personal example from my list.

What: A book called Daily Guidance from Your Angels.

Why: This book is part of my daily routine. I am truly grateful to the author because it truly inspires me every day when I open it.  Whether I am asking a specific question or just want to read the message for that day, it reminds me to be an even more loving person and to enjoy my life even more!

The “why” is as important as the “what” because the goal isn’t just to create a list; it’s to recognize what it is you truly value and appreciate about being alive.

After the “One Hundred Gratitudes” is complete, I want to you to ask yourself :

What did I value about this exercise?

What did I learn about myself doing this exercise?  If you did it with someone else, reflect on what you learned from each other.

What did I learn about happiness doing this exercise? This exercise is a powerful meditation on happiness.

Ask yourself if this exercise will affect the way you live your life from now on. Will you do anything differently?

Hundred Gratitudes” is one of the exercises that I rate “most useful.” I can honestly say that everyone who does this exercise experiences huge value. It is a truly profound exercise.

“One Hundred Gratitudes” is fun to do, and it can be a real life-changer. Below is a list of seven common benefits to look for:

Undoing Lack. “One Hundred Gratitudes” literally helps you to change your perception of the world. Practicing gratitude is really a decision to give up all belief in lack. Through gratitude, you begin to see not just with the eyes, but with the heart.

Increased Well-Being. Doing “One Hundred Gratitudes” feels good. Gratitude is energy. It energizes you, it restores you, and it soothes your weariness.

Real Values. When you really master gratitude, it helps you to discern between what is important and what is not. You no longer complain about the little things with quite the same conviction. You can’t be bothered to sweat the small stuff. You remember the big picture. True gratitude helps you to tune in to your timeless values. It amplifies your conscious sense of purpose. It reveals the true meaning of life, for you.

Healing Perspective. Most people’s “One Hundred Gratitudes” are a full and frank inventory of their life’s most important moments. Gratitude doesn’t just cover what is positive; it covers what is significant. For that reason, many people include in their lists past mistakes, heartbreaks, illnesses, divorce, bereavement, failures, and dark nights of the ego. Gratitude helps you to focus on the “positives.”

Heart-Centered. Doing “One Hundred Gratitudes” will put you back in touch with your heart. Gratitude is a good excuse to show more love, to receive more love, and to be more yourself with everyone.

Conscious Connection. Practicing gratitude helps you to feel a greater sense of connection with people, with places, and with the present moment. People who do “One Hundred Gratitudes” say things like, “I am less self-centered now,” and “It got me over myself,’” and “I feel less independent and cut off from life.” It is impossible to be truly grateful and feel alone. Gratitude also promotes a greater sense of spiritual connection with yourself, with others, and with life as a whole.

Happiness NOW. At first, most people are a little daunted by the task of finding 100 things to be grateful for, but by the end they usually find it impossible to restrict it to only 100. Gratitude works in harmony with the Law of Attraction, which states that what you focus on is what you attract. Gratitude helps you to pay attention, and as your attention grows, so too does your sense of wonder and awe.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Robert Holden!!

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time………

Would love you to share your thoughts and experiences once you have completed the exercise……! Let us all learn and inspire each other.

Lots of love, light and hugs,

Doris

Stay Positive

Hello all,

We’re in the process of relocating from South Africa to Canada! I’m sure all of you know just how stressful moving can be – especially to another country!!

We must sell our house and 2 motor cars without yet knowing what dates we will be leaving, because we are still waiting for our visas to come through. I set my own goal and timeline for a departure date, even though it is largely out of my hands at this point, (we are waiting for both the South African and Canadian Governments), and created a stressful and emotional situation for myself.  Being human, I had temporarily forgotten everything I have learned about being positive and having the correct affirmation and visualisations!

Staying true to my morning routine, I opened my ‘Daily Guidance from Your Angels” and this is the message I received……!

“The most helpful thing you can do in the face of hardship is to keep a positive attitude. There’s always some blessing within all circumstances, even if you can’t immediately identify it. By holding onto faith, you can elevate everyone around you, along with the situation itself.

A positive mind-set keeps the body relaxed, which in turn helps you think clearly and creatively during intense situations. Your bright outlook inspires others and may avert a cycle of downward-spiraling energy.

Vow to stay optimistic today no matter what. Always be honest about your thoughts and feelings, yet do call upon us angels and your higher self to gain the best perspective on every situation. In this way, you work through any upsetting emotions very quickly, keeping a high level of energy and a positive attitude.”

Thank you Doreen Virtue! Once again, the angels and the universe have come through for me!

My affirmation was that we would sell the cars and house for a certain price by the end of July and be in the air by mid August. What it should have been was that the cars and house ARE sold and my visualisation of the 3 of us sitting on the aircraft with feelings of appreciation and gratitiude for a positive outcome!

My stress levels are now non-existent and I am setting and achieving tasks one at a time, knowing and affirming that it will all work out in the correct time frame. This is another example of focusing on the right thing! You see, I was focusing on moving being stressfull and that is exactly what I created! What I should have been focusing on was achieving the tasks necessary for the move to go smoothly and uneventfully.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time………

Love, light and hugs,

Doris

PS! Would love to hear your comments and experiences…..

Love, Growth and Gratitude

Good day to all my wonderful friends!

I want to meet and surround myself with people who walk their talk, who live their lives practicing unconditional love, gratitude for all that they have, who extend kindness toward their fellow man and just being nice to everyone they meet!

Let us all decide that today is the day we will begin to treat everyone who cross our paths (regardless of religious beliefs), exactly how we would like to be treated and see the response that we get! We must bear in mind that people are not their behaviour – they are so much more than that and they are doing the best they can with the resources they have available.

Let us see the good in them and perceive them as magnificent creations, capable of anything they set their minds to! Let us expand our resources and set examples of how living a life of growth and contribution can make such a difference to everything and everyone around us.   Let us ensure that all our intentions and actions come from a place of love and integrity. Let us be an inspiration to everyone we meet!

Start right NOW and let me know what results you get!

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time……..

Lots of love, light and hugs,

Doris

PS Would love some feedback from you……..

My Wish for You

Comfort on difficult days,

Smiles when sadness intrudes,

Rainbows to follow the clouds,

Laughter to kiss your lips,

Sunsets to warm your heart,

Hugs when spirits sag,

Beauty for your eyes to see,

Friendships to brighten your being,

Faith so that you can believe,

Confidence for when  you doubt,

Courage to know yourself,

Patience to accept the truth,

Love to complete your life.

Religious vs Spiritual

Hello friends!

For a long time now I have questioned the difference between religion and spirituality. I have always considered myself to be more spiritual than religious without really understanding the difference. I only knew that “organised” religion always left a lot of my questions unanswered because I had come across so many religious people who didn’t walk their talk. I know none of us are perfect, we are all doing the best we can with the resources we have available, but knowing and understanding that didn’t help to fill the void I felt I had in my life,  Then I came across this article written by John N. Clayton and it was like a light bulb went on in my head!

I’m going to share portions of the article with you, because I know there are a lot of people out there who are going through exactly what I went through and asking the same questions I asked. My wish is that by sharing it with you will help to bring clarity and light into your life.

“Webster’s definition of religion is: “Any specific system of belief, worship, conduct, etc., involving a code of ethics and a philosophy.”

This may all sound rather mysterious and perhaps like a battle of semantics, but we would like to suggest that there is a major point to be made in the religion vs. spiritual area, and some dangers associated with it. A simple definition of religion is that religion is man’s attempt to reach God. Being spiritual is opening ourselves to God’s influence on our whole being. Let us draw some contrasts between these two definitions.

Religion focuses on what pleases man. Being spiritual focuses on what pleases God. Most of what we see religious people do in today’s world is the end product of what they think is appropriate to be religiously correct. Huge edifices are constructed, beautiful works of art created, beautiful music made, and marvelous words are said in the name of religion. People tend to judge churches by their size, location, and visibility in the community. A part of this judgment is how well the minister of the church entertains the membership. A good speaker can bring lots of people into the church as long as he does not offend and brings lots of humor and good feelings to his listeners. The mega churches of our day are groups that have learned this formula and do it well.  I found this kind of artificial atmosphere to be especially repulsive, and atheism was and is an attractive alternative to all of the religious materialism that swirls around us.

Religion involves emotions and externals while spirituality involves the whole being. Religion tends to tell people to react to their emotions and express them visibly. In today’s world, there is an emphasis on wearing things that  express our convictions and doing things that are ruled by our emotions. Preachers who can move people emotionally are looked up to, and religious services with great amounts of tears, emotional outbursts, and spirited responses are deemed to be the best. There are many problems with such approaches to God. One is that these services tend to produce huge peaks and valleys. A person is motivated to make a response by a capable preacher; and when the person is away from the positive reinforcement, they tend to crash. Another problem is that because the person is reacting emotionally to being in the service, their mind is not functioning on what is being taught. People like Jim Jones in Guyana, Marshall Applewaite in California, or David Koresh in Waco were able to get people to do incredible things which they certainly would not have done if they were not emotionally distracted.

Religion follows man’s standards while spirituality follows God’s standards. If someone were to ask me what the main cause of atheism is from my experience, my response would be that it is the hypocrisy of people who claim to be followers of God. When a person sees no difference between the way Christians conduct themselves and the way nonbelievers handle their lives, there is a compelling argument against the Christian system. The question is why this happens. The answer is that many of us who claim to be Christians are religious, but we are not spiritual. There is a huge practical difference.

Being religious involves following the accepted behavioral pattern of the religious group we are identified with. These patterns are determined by the leaders of the religious organization. It is difficult in today’s world to not hear of a religious group that is in turmoil over what is behaviorally acceptable and what is not. Everyone wants to know “what is your position on….” The focus is not on the individuals and their relationships to Christ, but rather on what the leadership of the religious organization is willing to condone and willing to condemn. This focus on organizational endorsement has sent the message to the average lay person that truth is a relative, dynamic, changing thing. The ultimate result of the acceptance of this message is that the religion has little or no effect on how the person lives. Even if lip service is paid to Christ and to the Bible by the leadership, the commitment is very diluted so that there is little effect on how people live or behave – even among the leaders.

We do not wish to imply that being spiritual is easy or that the choices that spirituality leads us to are always easily made. When an adulterous woman was brought to Jesus for judgment, He did not condone her immorality and in fact told her to “sin no more,” but His response to her accusers was to consider their own struggle with sin and focus on compassion, forgiveness, understanding, and sympathy. The Bible tells us how to be spiritual. The method involves a constant focus on attitudes and a deliberate adding of mindsets to one’s life.

“Add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness, and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity (2 Peter 1:5-7).”

I would hope that you continue to seek out Truth and not isolate yourself from believers and followers of Christ. I would hope that in the twenty-first century, the followers of Christ would get so free of religion and so into spirituality that no atheist or skeptic could justify their belief system on the failings of those who wear the name Christian.”

Reading this article has brought such clarity and insight into my life. I don’t have to grapple anymore with the guilt I felt because I didn’t follow religion the way I was brought up to follow it. I now totally understand, and am comfortable with, what my belief system is! I am now at peace……!

Make you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time………

Lots of love, light and hugs,

Doris

Honour Your Sensitivity

Hello to all my wonderful friends!

This week has been a week that required me to dig deep within myself to change my emotional state from feelings of guilt and sadness to acceptance. Today I opened my “”Daily Guidance from your Angels” and this is the message I received…….

“You respond deeply to different energies, and you may have been confused about whether you were feeling someone else’s emotions or you own. Sometimes life seems so intense that you even try to shut down your awareness. In other words, you’re sensitive.

Today, we ask you to honour this quality as a gift to you and the world. Your acute awareness enables you to detect truth and integrity in relationships, as well as feel joy and love very deeply. Your receptiveness also helps you communicate clearly with us angels. You sense our presence and messages in your gut feelings. In addition, you take great care with other people’s emotions – you’re extra thoughtful, kind and aware.”

I’m feeling so much better now……. Thank you Doreen Virtue!

Until next time……..

Lots of love, light and hugs,

Your friend, Doris

Wellbeing Tips

Hello to all my old, current and soon to be new friends,

Just like brushing your teeth, healthy habits should be cultivated on a daily basis.

• Activity should be a daily occurrence. Walk, run or jump for a minimum total of 20 minutes a day.

• Meditate or spend a minimum of five minutes daily in quiet time.

• Find your spiritual self. Discovering what inspires you raises your level of consciousness, motivates you, and satisfies your soul.

• Exercise your brain. Read, study, solve problems, and learn new skills. As does the body, the brain atrophies with lack of use.

• Hug somebody.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Until next time…….

Love, light and hugs,

Doris

PS! Would love to hear from you!
